New Year, New Website
Monday, January 24, 2011 at 12:56AM Also my first journal entry. I'm really not much of a blogger, much less tweeting. But per chance that you've stumbled upon my website today, you'll notice that it's in a bit of disarray. Or at least to me it is.
And since it's 1:00am on a Monday morning, I figure I might as well share a little. Take a break from the pixel pushing and just put thoughts onto my non-existent paper. Who knows this may be cathartic.
I can honestly say, the toughest job a designer will EVER have to do, is design their own website. Why is that? I mean, we do it for a living, we know the principles of good design, I've designed beautiful things. Why can't I get this one simple website done?
After some thinking (as well as face-palming, mumbling, pacing, munching) I've come to the conclusion that designers, by nature, are fickle. We have to be, otherwise designs just get stale, nothing evolves, trends don't emerge and well, everything would look so very 'blah'. The constant A.D.D. keeps us constantly engaged with our surroundings, waiting for the next moment of inspiration from wherever or whatever.
So here's some advice that has allowed me to be "OK" with my website that's up right now. Design is organic, it will change it will evolve. Be at peace with what you have for now, and look forward to the designs you'll come up with tomorrow.
NOW GO TO BED JANE!
